![]() Reinforced with an LRM 15×4 model with a +3 from a T &TS. On my original campaign I'm running three Stalkers a pair of the STK-3F upgrade I described above, which also drops a sink to extend the LRM bombardment time. Maneuver makes ALL the difference in the game, especially when you're outnumbered, which seems the norm on anything over a 2-skull mission. The Stalker is invariably late to the party, which is why is it most often outfitted with a massive number of LRMs and lighter armor. ![]() I've been playing the public Beta for quite some time now and have been pleasantly surprised at how it encourages, instead of discourages, maneuver and fire. Once the revised pilot abilities are released in 1.3, I'll think you'll find this 'Mech's utility. If you're a camper, which, frankly, is encouraged by the current Bulwark skill, this 'Mech may not be the one for you. If you've got a high tactics, I have also found swapping out the SRM for an LRM to be effective, giving it respectable long-range hitting power while closing and allowing the LRMs to be fired at closer ranges as well. It's fast enough to close with the enemy and backed up by it's pair of machines guns and solid armor, can pummel to death whatever it can't drop with it's weapons. It's quite capable of carving off sections of the OpFor with it's heavy load of direct fire weapons. Put someone with Called Shot Bonus/Mastery and good piloting in the Battlemaster. If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles ~ Sun Tzu Has anyone found their own general configurations that really work for them? That also works to make the Battlewagon loadout-compatible with the Stalkers and Highlanders I'm going into the field with, on the heavy tonnage missions. When you're at that point in the game where you're working mostly with heavies for the upper tonnage end of your rosters, a couple T-bolts can bolster your skirmish line. Of course, at that point I've basically built a Thunderbolt with 20 extra tons on it, but the game has taken my opinion of the T-bolt from rather indifferent to favorable, because the T-bolt is tanky, and that standard setup of one heavy energy and LRM weapon, supported by mediums and SRM's close in decently works. My first instinct is to drop the SRM 6 for a heavier LRM rack, and work with the remaining tonnage for mediums and possible support weapons. There are rightful complaints about the armor, which is why my first step with procuring a 3F is to drop the SRM 6 for a pair of SRM 4+++, and put the saved tonnage into armor, making the mech more doable for base busts and slugfests.īy way of comparison, the BLR-1G is weak at range in its stock configuration, gets suitably nasty only when the fight gets closer. ![]() ![]() It can hurt you from any range, and it just gets nastier as it closes in. I'll start by saying that of the two 85's currently in the game, I vastly prefer the Stalker. ![]()
